Shula's On The Beach -- Fort Lauderdale, FL Sheraton Yankee Trader Hotel 321 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. (A1A) Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 Phone: 954.355.4000 www.shulasbeach.com www.donshula.com Date of Visit: 21 May 2004 OVERALL EXPERIENCE (5 is Best) It is a dark day for the coach. I have had an absolutely miserable meal at a restaurant with the coach's name on it. And I found out why. Shula's On The Beach is a franchise restaurant and based on my experience (and what I heard from many others) it is a Shula's in name only. This poor excuse for a House of Dead Cow is unacceptable service and miserable food quality. This is a powerful comment, but I heard this from others I spoke with. Locals said that the restaurant has a very bad reputation and has "gone down hill" in the past year. I am not going to even do a complete review. Briefly, my meal consisted of an appetizer of escargot ($10.00), a 16-ounce prime rib ($34.00) and sauteed mushrooms ($5.00). The wine was a 2000 Grand Archer cabernet from Arrowood ($44.00). The escargot garlic butter sauce was loaded with salt, the prime rib overcooked, tough, and tasteless, and the mushrooms tasted like they wer from a can. As always, David Arrowood did a nice job on this low-end cabernet. Stay away from this place. And coach, I highly recommend that you send someone from one of your Don Shula's Steak Houses down to Fort Lauderdale to kick ass and take names. They do not do your reputation justice.
